These cars are mostly similar to the previous models. The Odyssey however has moved from Nidec to Bosch. Honda has introduced some new challenges with this port as seen below.

Further, the press release for the 2021 Accord mentions changes to the ADAS system and I suspect some of the work here may apply to the new generation of Bosch ADAS equipped Honda vehicles.

Edit: I'm not seeing any torque differences on the new Accords. The system does stay engaged more of the time, so it appears they're utilizing the capabilities of the system more than before.

Notes:

• LKAS_HUD (0x33d) is now split into two different extended frames 0x33da and 0x33db. 0x33da is the same as 0x33d from before, but with an adjusted checksum. 0x33db is an 8 byte frame which is an identical copy of 0x33da with the two additional data bytes (and some new bits set when engaged).
• STEERING_CONTROL (0xe4) includes some new bits when engaged as well.

Todo:

• Modify panda safety to permit sending on the new LKAS_HUD frames
• RE the checksum algorithm for the new extended frames and apply fixes to panda and opendbc
• Verify set speed in kph or mph for Accord
• Steering below ~45mph on Odyssey (requires radar knockout and OP long. limited to ~3mph.)
• Verify the hard coded parameters for 0xe5 are applicable to this vehicle.
• Explore the new data bytes in 0x33db (NOT DOING THIS)

I recently purchased a 2021 Odyssey Touring. I'd be open to using my vehicle for testing if you need more vehicles. I don't have the Hardware yet but once I obtain it then I'd be open to providing data.

At this point, any desired help would be primarily toward the steer below 45 mph issue. It's the primary issue remaining with this vehicle. If you're okay with steering control only over 45, it's a safe bet to get the hardware (car harness for Honda Insight is a good fit). It works fine above that speed. Hopefully we can unlock the full speed range, though it may not be possible.

To clarify what the stock behavior is for a USDM 2021 Odyssey, for people who don't have the vehicle and because the openpilot limitation/behavior is related to this stock limitation/behavior... LKAS will not engage until you reach 45mph, and will disengage if you drop below 40mph. Because of this (which openpilot at this point cannot overcome) and propensity to disengage due to breaks in either-side lane marking (which openpilot can address) the stock LKAS is not at all useful in non-highway urban/suburban driving. It (both LKAS and ACC) is, however, significantly better (very usable/helpful; I use extensively) on the interstate and rural highways than previous generations of Honda Sensing on the Odyssey. I would say the stock system is good enough on the interstate that a lot of motivation to add openpilot disappears in that context...and the 40/45-mph limitation will also make openpilot not that attractive in other settings (value OP brings is re steering; but not under 40/45). So unless/until the 40/45-mph limitation is addressed...openpilot is probably not a worthwhile addition to 2021+ Odyssey. (Based on experience of 10k miles behind the wheel.)

I also have this exact van, and have driven 30k miles with heavy LKAS/ACC use. I can also say that stock is very very good...however, the fact that I need to keep nudging the wheel every so often gets annoying, so this is where I see the value in getting comma to work with this vehicle.
Also, it's not perfect. When going around a bend with a somewhat large curve radius, the vehicle will keep the same speed (given no vehicles in front, ACC not engaged) and LKAS will disengage because of the torque limit. I'm guessing this will not be fixed on comma, since it's a HW limitation, but here's my question: does comma know to slow down once the wheel torque reaches a certain threshold? That would be a nice/useful feature vs. stock.
That plus the fact that comma will receive continuous updates...something that can't be said about stock driving assist.

Given the 2021 Toyota Sienna TSS 2.0 security check, the 2021 Odyssey is looking like the only option if you want an OP supported mini van. There’s also the 2021 Pacifica but that’s not as popular as the Sienna and Odyssey.

The security checks are true for the RAV4 Prime. We are assuming the 21 Sienna also has the same TSS 2.0 security checks based on Toyota’s Techinfo documents.

Nobody has physically connected a Comma 2 device to a 21 Sienna yet to validate.

Will comma/openpilot work with a 2021 Odyssey? I don't see it list in one the compatible cars

Edit 11/19:
The stock radar is blocking our steering command outside of the factory LKAS' speed range. To test out our theory, one would need to install the test branch, enable 1-2 params via SSH in order to enable OP longitudinal control, and then see if steering behavior improves. DM me for instructions if you're capable of gaining access to SSH on the device and issuing commands.

Edit 10/31: The stock camera and radar are on the same F-CAN, so the radar is performing the lockout. The next thing to try would be OP longitudinal control, which disables the radar and its ADAS outputs, and see if this issue is resolved. That said, the CAN gateway could still prevent the request from being passed through. That's TBD.

10/23/21 - Update time!

Knowing that all 2021+ Bosch cars are in the same boat, I've redone the port this time including the Odyssey. Less edits, but more commits throughout the project. Need to do some through testing and then submit PRs.

As for the Odyssey, I'm submitting it as a steer lockout car. Meaning that the driver will able to use ACC at all speeds as normal, but will see a low speed steering warning on the screen when the radar is blocking our torque request.

Stock ACC and AEB are both disabled in that case. OP can do vision-only ACC but it's not ready for prime time yet. OP does not have a replacement for AEB yet so at best you'll get a warning.

I installed Openpilot, then reset and tried the fork. Unfortunately, it seems that this fork does not work and causes the system not to work. From what is being said in Discord, the ANGOS is too old. This fork is currently at 5.2. Using the link below, I am trying other versions by updating the launch_env.sh and the angos.json. So far no lunch, but about to try 7.1 as 8.2 did not work.

If I can get it going I will share, but if anyone else has ideas, I would love to hear them!

I am trying to understand what you're doing. So you've had the current version of OP installed on your device, now you're switching to the odyssey_c3 fork but the system will not install and you never get the screen for the agnos system update?

It took me a bit, but I figured out this branch was for Comma 3, and I purchased a Comma 3x. This fork uses some older versions in the code that are incompatible with the Comma 3x. The result was the Comma 3x "breaking" and needing to be flashed.

I made an updated branch based on the changes in the odyssey_pr branch, that seems. It works but is limited to a 47 mph set speed and a ~40 mph minimum steering speed. It looks like there is a HONDA_BOSH_RADARLESS option that would lower these limits, but I am still reading to understand this. I have also found that the MAX speed displayed on the Comma 3x is a good amount under the actual speed set on the car. I believe it has to do with the conversion, but still researching it.

I am trying to get a better understanding of the testing to hopefully create a new pr that will hopefully help the existing pr.

Hey y'all. I'm back. Sorry for disappearing; life's been weird.

I've been working on a new test branch for c3/c3x and am looking for a volunteer to test it. If it works out fine, I'll revisit merging the port and other changes as well as push it to the odyssey_c3 branch for all to enjoy.

Privacy/Data notice: I added in changes to sentry so that it uploads the carParams (self.CP) object to my account when the car starts. I will use this data to merge in any new firmware ids without them having to be sent to me manually. The worst info that it contains is your car's VIN (which is hardly close to private at all) and of course the comma dongle ID.

NO VIDEO OR PERSONAL DATA, ADDRESSES, OR LOCATION INFO IS TRANSMITTED! I don't want it.

Feel free to revert the sentry commit if you do not want to participate. The data would help though.

Also, the log files might not be parseable by comma due to certain changes to cereal. If that matters to you, do not install this. Video should be 100% unaffected.

Fixes for the later Acura RDX aren't in this branch but would be easy to add. I'll see about doing that tonight.

If you don't care with any of the warnings that I just mentioned, here's the installer link:

After the install, please start the car when the c3 is connected to the internet and confirm that it fingerprints and that it works on a test drive. Please, keep the openpilot long control toggle OFF for now. If anything seems broken, please let me know.

Hi! Yes, totally compatible with c3x. Once you drive faster 46.5, it'll usually steer down to around 36.5mph. You can engage ACC at any speed and the UI on the comma three will tell you what's up with the steering control.

I'm probably asking in the wrong place, but what do I need to buy to make this work in my 23 Odyssey? I have never done anything with OpenPilot. So far it looks like I need:

Comma 3x
Honda connector (Bosch A or B?)
Red Panda?

Am I missing anything? When I buy the 3x I don't add a harness right? The only harness I see that you can add is the Honda Odyssey 2018-2020 so I didn't add one.

Hi Chris, many thanks for your continued work on these forks. Long time appreciative watcher of this thread with a '22 Odyssey and a comma 2 that died.

I replaced the mainboard, successfully as far as I can tell, following the pinned instructions from the hw-two-eon discord. Then followed instructions at https://github.com/jyoung8607/neos-manual-install, as I ran into the same no Internet connection issue. When I install stock openpilot using jyoung8607's script, everything seems to be working fine. Obviously, plugging into my harness in the Odyssey shows the car not recognized...

However, when I install your odyssey fork (using jyoung8607's instructions), it boots up, comma logo spins, but then screen goes dark (but display is clearly on and backlit, if that makes sense). Any idea what could be causing this? Perhaps I'm having a similar problem as dream2372?

I will just add that pressing and holding the power button does bring up the "power off, reboot, settings" menu on the display, and I can access the wifi settings, for example.

Thanks, it looks like I fixed my install problem by running that line with my C2 plugged into the car harness (previously ran it while plugged in to a powered USB hub, which resulted in the blank screen issues as described). So it worked, but.... now I have a different issue - am getting a "no data from device sensors" error.

Wanted to share this update with this group. After much trial and error, Sunny Haibin’s sunnypilot, with the new Acura RDX selected, works perfectly for the Honda Odyssey. No errors. Only flaw I’ve found so far is once steering is overwhelmed, it disengages the steering aspect until you toggle sunnypilot off and on. Otherwise, it works well and is based on newest openpilot w/ driving models, it steers down to 0, etc. Hopefully we can get the Odyssey properly fingerprinted and any flaws ironed out.

@yisroel1 Which branch of sunnypilot were you on? Taking a look, that fork's release-c3 and dev-c3 branches (probably the latest) have no relevant changes to match this claim.
